    One in three American young people will reach the age of 19 without having had a mentor of any kind. Mentoring relationships between a young person and a caring adult can provide guidance, support, and encouragement to develop the competence and character of the mentee. It is a critical program element under the WIOA youth program; however, it can be one of the most challenging elements to provide and maintain.
