Happy June!

We are proud to announce that at the end of May, just a month after the one-year anniversary of its launch, WorkforceGPS hit 50,000 users—thank you for allowing us to help you navigate to success! Now that you’ve joined the club, we want you to take the next step by getting to know your fellow WorkforceGPS members through the WorkforceGPS Member Directory.

If you haven’t done so already, we invite you to complete your profile by posting a photo and adding a few words about you and your work.

The WorkforceGPS Team is also excited to release two of our latest projects: a 2017 WIOA National Convenings Toolkit and a new search tutorial.  As a follow-up to the 2017 WIOA National Convenings, the WorkforceGPS team has pulled together some additional technical assistance materials for your reading pleasure.  This new toolkit is organized by the six “tracks” used during the convenings, which you can access here.

Secondly, we’ve done some tweaking behind the scenes to make it easier to find things on WorkforceGPS; this short help video will tell you all about how to search for and get the resources you need.

Many of our communities of practice and collections have also been busy this spring.  The Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Learning Network recently released a new podcast series—the Voices of TAACCCT Presidents. These videos feature community college presidents sharing the impact that TAACCT grants have had on their colleges. Also one of WorkforceGPS’ newest collections, Grants Application and Management, has published some great training modules that delve into the many aspects of administering a grant award to help you better manage your grants.

Be on the lookout for more WorkforceGPS highlights and happenings next month.

Until then, stay cool!

  • Hiring Adults with Disabilities: According to the American Community Survey, only 35 percent of adults with disabilities were employed in 2015. Many factors contribute to this low employment rate, and the following studies are a handful within the WSS collection that explore the topic. These resources examine workforce challenges experienced by adults with disabilities; and highlight earnings discrepancies by educational attainment, labor market participation, and employment participation rates across disability types.
  • Policy Brief on Integrating SNAP E&T into Career Pathway Systems : Career Pathways help people upgrade their skills and advance to better jobs over time through a stackable set of education and training steps and credentials within a particular industry. As States expand and improve Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) services, they should consider how SNAP E&T can be incorporated into existing career pathways systems to get better results for participants.
