Happy August!

This month, the WorkforceGPS Team brings to you two of our latest resources, a word on one of our collections, and a couple reminders.

Workforce System Strategies Summertime Reads

With the end of summer fast approaching, it’s time to start planning for the upcoming school year; and in that spirit, the Workforce System Strategies (WSS) Team has some “beach reads” for you to enjoy as you soak up those last few rays of summer sunshine. In this one-pager, you will find summaries of three reports that highlight some of the work that community colleges across the country are doing to train individuals to meet the workforce needs of in-demand industries. Remember, if you are looking for evidence-based research and emerging practices, Workforce System Strategies is the place to start on WorkforceGPS.

A “Novel” Approach to Serving Individuals with Complex Stories

Speaking of books, many states and local areas have expressed a need for tools that help American Job Centers (AJCs) coordinate staff and partners to work collaboratively across programs. Enter AJC Customer Flow Scenarios. This newly released tool features five illustrated stories that represent scenarios of customer experiences and the guidance an AJC staff member might provide. These stories demonstrate the characteristics of a high-quality one-stop center, as described in TEGL 04-15.

Collection Spotlight: LMI Central

This month, the WorkforceGPS Team would like to introduce you to LMI Central, a portal to innovative and relevant sources of workforce and labor market information for data-driven planning.  The Labor Market Information (LMI) Central collection (or LMI Central for short) provides a diverse palette of LMI resources to assist you in "painting a picture" of your labor market and to help you improve your employment and training programs and policies. To view this collection and keep abreast of new products, new tools, analysis techniques, and training events, click here.
