This month, the WorkforceGPS Team is
proud to bring you a new desk aid, a timely spotlight on one of our Community
of Practices, and a reminder about a couple upcoming events.
New Desk Aid: Back-to-Work Backpack
As the kids head back to school and
changing colors usher in the Fall weather, the WorkforceGPS Team wants to make
sure you are prepared to get back into the swing of things. To that end, we
have compiled a handy list of resources across Workforce Innovation and
Opportunity Act (WIOA) hot topics; click here to check out our Back-to-Work Backpack. Also
worth taking a look at, the American Job Center Network Overview Infographic.
Community of Practice Spotlight: Older
Workers
This month, the WorkforceGPS Team would like to introduce you to the Older
Workers Community of Practice (CoP). This CoP is an online hub to
share resources, news, and emerging practices about the Senior Community
Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which provides on-the-job skills training
to individuals 55 or older with limited financial resources. This site is
designed to facilitate peer-to-peer communication among SCSEP grantees and
sub-grantees, Federal Project Officers, and the national program office. To
visit this CoP today, click here.
Upcoming Events: NEOWW and Youth
Virtual Learning Series
Also worth noting, the last full week of September (24th – 30th) is National
Employ Older Workers Week (NEOWW). NEOWW annually recognizes the vital role of
older workers in the workforce and aims to increase awareness of this segment
of workers and develop innovative strategies to utilize it.
Finally, the Youth Services Team via the Youth
Connections Community of Practice is excited to launch Our Journey
Together: The WIOA Youth Program Technical Assistance (TA) Series. This
series will kick off on October 24th and 25th and cover topics
such as eligibility, youth committees, performance and more. More information
and registration opportunities to come!
Stay
smart!
