Workplace Mental Health and Wellness

The pandemic has had a major impact on the mental health and wellness of individuals in the workplace. Many lost their jobs either temporarily or permanently, and have had to balance the need to support children at home in remote school or other family obligations. Throughout the month of October, WorkforceGPS will be highlighting resources and in supporting workers in this “new normal” workplace that we now live in.

National Apprenticeship Week is Coming!

NAPW weekU.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh has designated November 15 - 21 as 2021 National Apprenticeship Week (NAW), an annual event which has, for the past seven years, celebrated apprenticeship as a way of enabling workers to earn while they learn. Since its launch in 2015, NAW has prompted more than 5,000 events and 700 proclamations and has attracted upwards of 470,000 attendees across the country. This year’s celebration furthers the DOL’s commitment to President Biden’s infrastructure plan for creating jobs that will make America more competitive and expand opportunities to workers from marginalized communities.

Visit the NAW page on apprenticeship.gov for the latest resources, such as a NAW factsheet, mailer, and editable flyers. Please use the links provided there to register your events and proclamations, share the mailer, factsheet, and flyers with partners, and use #NAW2021 across social channels to share photos and proclamations – which will be linked to the Department’s social media. Finally, visit the Communities page on WorkforceGPS and check out the Apprenticeship-focused Communities to learn from your peers on how to implement successful Apprenticeship programs.

New Community--Apprenticeship: Closing the Skills Gap

CSG logoThe U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration (ETA) is pleased to announce the launch of a new Community: Apprenticeships: Closing the Skills Gap (CSG). This community includes important resources for this H-1B grant program in support of the grantees’ success, and is designed to provide CSG grantees with a central place to interact with grant peers, and access technical assistance and resources to support the implementation of their grant projects. Even if you are not a grantee, check it out. The resources on this new community are intended to assist in supporting quality apprenticeship programs.
