2021: Adapting to Change

2021 was a year of ups and downs. When we decided this year’s annual theme “Adapting to Change,” little did we know how it would appropriately describe the year. Throughout 2021, the publicly-funded workforce system has risen to the occasion, providing services to individuals and employers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

While we all remain hopeful that we are nearing the end of the crisis phase, we are still dealing with worker shortages in many sectors and assisting individuals as they look for new careers and work situations. WorkforceGPS will continue to keep our finger on the pulse of the system and will do our best to provide you with the technical assistance resources you need to help you do your jobs and serve your customers.

 Resources to Support Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship copySmall businesses are the backbone of our economy, creating two out of every three new jobs in America. The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) allows local workforce boards and agencies to support youth and adults gain the entrepreneurial skills necessary to engage in work as an entrepreneur. Each year, we highlight resources that amplify entrepreneurship as a service strategy. WIOA qualifying activities supporting entrepreneurship include skills and education training; career awareness and counseling; and services providing labor market and employment information about in-demand industry sectors. WorkforceGPS provides a wide range of reports, successful practices, tools, and webinars that highlight the various work-based learning (WBL) strategies. We have gathered many of these resources in one location. Check them out here.
