An agricultural upgrade, in the world of the National Farmworker Jobs Program, is when a farmworker advances in their career without leaving agriculture. Farmworkers are skilled and in high demand, and we need to talk about how to retain this essential workforce. This presentation includes a discussion about what an agricultural upgrade looks like in practice and what partnerships are necessary to make any up-skilling approach for farmworkers successful.

Description

PathStone Corporation in Pennsylvania, an NFJP grantee, will share its policies and methodologies that assist agricultural workers with attaining new and better-paid positions in farm work. Additionally, participants will learn about available resources for on-the-job training (OJT) and other work-based learning strategies, which will come in handy when developing their own agricultural upgrade approach.
