WIOA Wednesday: Career Pathways - The WIOA Way of Doing Business
3:00 PM ~ 4:30 PM ET
What are career pathways? Career pathways are the new way of doing business, and they operate at two levels—a systems level and an individual program level. At the systems level, career pathways development is a broad approach for serving populations that may experience significant barriers to employment and can substantively alter the way the workforce system delivers its services and its relationship with partner organizations and stakeholders.
Career pathways programs offer a clear sequence, or pathway, of education coursework and/or training credentials aligned with employer-validated work readiness standards and competencies.
In this webinar, federal partners will discuss national efforts to promote and support the building and strengthening of career pathways systems and programs. The team will highlight relevant career pathways sections of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and associated regulations. You will also get a first-hand look at the newly released ‘Career Pathways Toolkit: An Enhanced Guide and Workbook for System Development’ that aligns with the vision, definition, and requirements of WIOA and embeds hands-on worksheets to assist state and local teams with implementation of the 6 elements of career pathways.
Intended Audience: All state and local workforce development, adult education, and vocational rehabilitation staff overseeing Titles I, II, III, and IV of WIOA as well as their mandatory partners in building career pathways systems.
